There are many ways by which we can make our teeth healthy and strong.
- BRUSHING – Brushing twice a day with fluoridated toothpaste can reduce the chances of getting caries in your teeth. Moreover it helps in dislodgement of the plaque while ultimately reduces the bacterial load and formation of acid in the mouth.
Nowadays, many types of brushes are available in the market such as manual brushes and electronic toothbrushes. Electronic toothbrushes improves the efficiency of cleaning in patient, who are dependent on others and elderly people

2.FLOSSING
Flossing regularly can help keeping our mouth healthy. By taking 45 cm of floss, and wrap around one finger of each hand.
Hold the floss tightly between your thumbs and forefinger with about an inch. Gently place it between your fingers and move it with the rocking motion to guide it between your teeth.
When the floss reaches your gum line, curve it into Cline between the teeth.
Hold it in the same position and scrape the material outside the tooth. Include each and every portion of tooth.
Again start from right to left and then left to right.

3.ORAL IRRIGATORS
They are a stream or jet of waters to remove plaque and bits of food between the tooth. Alternatively, to flossing with thread.
Indication
- In patients wearing braces, where it is difficult to clean.

4.MOUTHWASH
Mouthwashes can help prevent tooth decay. Your dentist will recommend an antimicrobial mouthwash to help control plaque and reduce inflammation. Nowadays variety of mouthwashes are available in a market.
It is recommended to use mouthwash once day but not in all patients
It is not as a treatment for bad breath

4.DIET: Diet is the most important factor in maintaining good oral hygiene.
Foods rich in sugar can increase the acidic component of mouth. It takes up to an hour for your mouth to cancel out the acid caused by eating and drinking sugar.
During acid production acid are under constant attack.
Drinking water after meals can help reduce acid more quickly.
Drinking fizzy drinks, juices, sports drinks and wine can be acidic cause erosions. It wears away the enamel leads to sensitivity.
