Sterilization

Some of the techniques routinely used include:

Safety of patients is a major priority at Dentem and we strictly adhere to our high standards of sterilization and hygiene. We are professional and meticulous with our sterilization regime and we exceed the current dental guidelines concerned with the same. The process of sterilization in Dentem is constantly subjected to control and monitoring. At our clinic, the most advanced methods of sterilization and disinfection are available for your safety and the protection of your health and family. We are not an MNC, our directors Dr. Tanvir Singh and Dr. Gunita Singh take personal attention and personal care of anything and everything that is happening in the clinic. Disposable supplies are extensively used, used once and discarded. Gloves, masks and needles are all disposable and are changed for every patient.

All instruments are washed in running warm water first to remove any debris and then thoroughly cleaned with a disinfectant. All heat-stable instruments are sterilized after each use in the hot air oven and packed in sterilization pouches, followed by inspection and additional cleansing of each instrument by hand. The instruments packed in sterilization pouches are then autoclaved. All autoclaved instruments are put in UV chamber in order to maintain sterilization and the pouches are only opened in front of the patients at the time of use.
Scaling cleans above and below the gums. If you have gum disease, scaling needs to be deeper, around the roots of the teeth.
Special attention is paid to allergic patients and disposable wipes and preferably all disposable instruments are used for such patients.

After each patient’s visit, the gloves are discarded, hands are washed, hand sanitizer is used and new gloves are put on for the next patient.
We have multiple sets of sterilized instruments ready for all the different patients to maintain infection control.
Since we have a lot of walk-in patients, we assume the worst as the risk of transmission is highest for us and we are always prepared for the worst kind of infections.
Most of the clinic in the city operate from small rooms and don’t have a dedicated area for sterilization but in Dentem a separate chamber is dedicated solely for this purpose and a trained assistant is concerned with only this procedure.
We have tied up with Synergy Biomedical waste management who are specially trained in the waste disposal and separate our bio-hazardous waste from the normal waste and dispose of it properly.
Our procedures may seem a little high end and expensive to a few but that is only because a major portion of our expenditure goes in sterilization and infection control and the high-end equipment for the same and we believe that only if we take the right steps will we achieve the right goals.
